About Dr. Doug Cohen

Dr. Cohen received an undergraduate degree from Concordia University in Montreal, a master's degree from the University of Ottawa, and a doctorate from Simon Fraser in 1997. His seminal research paper authored, in 1994, "Empathy in conduct disorder youth" is still cited by researchers and in textbooks (Stayer & Cohen, 1997, Developmental Psychology). He also provides supervision for graduate students from the University of British Columbia and is an associated at the Cortex Institute for Advanced Assessment. With over twenty years of experience as a Clinical Neuropsychologist Dr. Doug Cohen has worked with hundreds of adults and children in the legal, medical, and private fields. He is a published author of research in human emotional development.

Dr. Cohen has also had the opportunity to apply his knowledge and skill set to private and volunteer Consulting work with regional mental health, hospital, educational institutions, crown corporation and private businesses. He also successfully works within some of the most difficult and stressful professional settings mental health has to offer, including hospitals, jails, treatment & rehabilitation centers, and forensic contexts. His work in the neurosciences has means staying on top of the most cutting edge research, treatment, and consulting approaches about how our brain works.

Dr. Cohen routinely provides testimony to the Supreme Court of British Columbia in litigation, including findings regarding mild traumatic brain injury. He also provides talks and seminars to organizations such as the Trial Lawyers Associates of BC, other Psychologists, Physicians, and Teachers.

Most recently, Dr. Cohen completed training in Cambridge, U.K. on the Belbin Model of Team Roles, for use with middle and large business organizations, management and team consulting. Dr. Cohen and Dr. Gill created Tactical Edge Consulting in 2011 after a 2 year development process designed to identify the key areas of need in the Corporate Team and Executive Management sectors, following their mutual interest in Private Business, Industry and Public Sector human resource challenges.
